DMA Card

DMA Card Hardware

Setup DMA

STEP 1: PREPARE YOUR PC

Click for Video

1. Install the DMA Card in the Gaming-PC

  • Turn off the Gaming-PC and plug the DMA Card in
-> When installing/uninstalling the DMA Card you should always completely power off the PC
  • Insert the USB cable into the DMA Data Port
-> Use a USB 3.0 or faster cable for optimal speeds
  • Insert the other end into a USB port on the Second-PC SuperSpeed USB 20Gbps USB 40Gbps

STEP 2: PREPARE YOUR BIOS

1. Power on the Gaming-PC and change the following BIOS settings on the Gaming-PC

  • On Intel CPU disable VT-d
  • On AMD CPU disable IOMMU

2. Save and exit from BIOS and continue to Windows
-> If you get stuck on the Windows login you need to flash your DMA Hardware first

STEP 3: PREPARE YOUR WINDOWS

1. Type "PowerShell" in the start menu on the Gaming-PC

  • Open PowerShell with administrator privileges
    Run PowerShell as administrator
  • Type the following:
REG ADD "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power" /V HiberbootEnabled /T REG_dWORD /D 0 /F
  • Press "Enter" and you should get the following message:
    The operation completed successfully
Disable-MMAgent -mc
  • Press "Enter" and you should get this:
    PowerShell result
  • If you see this message, memory compression is already disabled and everything is working as expected.
    Memory compression already disabled

2. Restart your Gaming-PC

STEP 4: DONE

Make sure that your DMA Card has a firmware that supports the game you want to play.
Testing DMA

STEP 1: PREPARE THE SECOND-PC

1. Disable Windows Defender

2. Uninstall all other Anti-Virus programs (BitDefender, MalwareBytes, etc.)

3. Download the Loader

4. Run the Loader

  • Login with your clutch-solution username and password
  • This will generate the Loader_username and open it

STEP 2: OPEN THE DMA TOOL

1. In the Loader select "DMA Tool" DMA Tool and click the button Start button

2. The tool opens on Choose a device: click the card of your board (you can search by model, chip or driver)

DMA Tool - Choose a device

3. Under What do you want to do? click "Test"

DMA Tool - Test, DNA and Flash actions on the selected board

STEP 3: RUN THE CONNECTIVITY TEST

1. Check that Driver status shows Driver ready (FTDIBUS3)

  • Driver not installed: the tool installs the driver by itself - wait for "Installing driver..." and "Waiting for driver..." to finish
  • Device not connected: check the USB cable on the DMA Data Port. Reconnect the cable and prefer a USB-C to USB-C cable directly to the motherboard of the Second-PC

2. Keep Test type = Connectivity, Mapping = Auto Mapping and FPGA Algorithm = Algorithm 0

  • The connectivity test starts automatically as soon as the driver is ready. If it does not, click "Run test"
DMA Tool - Device Test form with Driver ready

3. Wait for the RESULT panel to show Passed together with the Memory Map and the memory display

DMA Tool - Connectivity test Passed with memory map

-> If the result is red, read the message: it links to the matching topic in Troubleshooting (also available in the top bar of the tool)

STEP 4: RUN THE SPEED TEST

1. Select "Speed test" as Test type and click "Run test"

2. Wait until PROGRESS reaches 100% and check the SPEED rating

DMA Tool - Speed test Passed with 184 MB/s Excellent
  • 250 MB/s and above -> Legendary
  • 160-250 MB/s -> Excellent
  • 100-160 MB/s -> Good
  • 50-100 MB/s -> Accepted
-> You are most likely on a USB 2.0 port or cable - use a USB 3.x 10 Gbit/s cable or better and try another USB port
  • Below 50 MB/s -> Bad
-> Most likely stuck in the tiny algorithm - see "Slow Speed Test" in Troubleshooting (PCIe slot, BIOS Gen3/Gen4)

STEP 5: DONE

Flashing DMA
You do not need to do this if your DMA card already has a firmware update.

STEP 1: PREPARE THE SECOND-PC

1. Disable Windows Defender

2. Uninstall all other Anti-Virus programs (BitDefender, MalwareBytes, etc.)

3. Download the Loader

4. Run the Loader

  • Login with your clutch-solution username and password
  • This will generate the Loader_username and open it

STEP 2: OPEN THE DMA TOOL

1. In the Loader select "DMA Tool" DMA Tool and click the button Start button

2. The tool opens on Choose a device: click the card of your board (you can search by model, chip or driver)

DMA Tool - Choose a device

3. Under What do you want to do? click "Flash"

DMA Tool - Test, DNA and Flash actions on the selected board

STEP 3: CONNECT THE UPDATE PORT

1. Connect the DMA card's Update / CFG / JTAG port to the Second-PC with a USB cable

  • While this port is not detected the tool shows Device not connected and the hint "Make sure the board is connected to its Update / CFG / JTAG port"
DMA Tool - Flash page with Driver ready and the firmware drop zone

2. Wait until Driver status shows Driver ready (CH341PAR or RS232HS/WinUSB depending on your board). A missing driver is installed automatically

STEP 4: FLASH THE FIRMWARE

1. Drag & drop your firmware .bin onto the Firmware box, or click it to browse for the file

DMA Tool - firmware.bin selected, Flash device enabled

2. Click "Flash device" and wait for the progress bar. Do not unplug the card while it shows "Flashing..."

DMA Tool - Flashing progress bar

-> "Retrying..." can appear if the adapter was not ready yet - the tool retries by itself

3. On success the result reads Flash completed successfully. Please cold reboot your Gaming-PC:

  1. Turn off the Gaming-PC and unplug the power cord
  2. Press and hold the Gaming-PC power button for 15 seconds to unload any residual voltage
  3. Reconnect the Gaming-PC power cord
  4. Power up the Gaming-PC
  5. Run DMA Tool and test to make sure everything is working correctly
DMA Tool - Flash completed with the cold reboot checklist

-> If the flash fails the status turns red with a link to the matching Troubleshooting topic and an "Open log" button that opens the full flash log

STEP 5: DONE

Continue with Testing DMA.

Reading DNA

The DNA is the unique identifier of your DMA card. Firmware is built for that DNA, so you need it when ordering firmware.

STEP 1: CONNECT THE UPDATE PORT

1. Connect the DMA card's Update / CFG / JTAG port to the Second-PC with a USB cable

STEP 2: READ THE DNA

1. Open the DMA Tool, click the card of your board and choose "DNA"

2. Wait until Driver status shows Driver ready, then click "Read DNA"

DMA Tool - DNA page

3. The result shows Completed and the DNA ID card with your DNA - click "Copy" and paste it in your firmware ticket

DMA Tool - DNA read completed with the DNA ID card

-> A DNA made only of zeros is a failed read, not a valid identity - check the Update port cable and try again
